• Ready to fly kit: This is a pre-assembled kit. It requires just a wing attachment. Rest of everything that are required to build up a helicopter are present in this kit. It requires just a few minutes for helicopters to be constructed using this kit. The ready to fly helicopters even though are easy to be constructed still they are not the first choice of hobbyists. Adult hobbyists would rather enjoy assembling and constructing helicopters on their own.
• Almost ready to fly kits: These model helicopter kits require about four to five hours for constructing a helicopter. However, these kits do not come with a choice of a motor (gas, fuel or electric) and a speed controller. These things have to be purchased additionally.
• Balsa kits: They come in many sizes. They are unassembled kits and generally contain all the raw materials needed for the construction of a model helicopter. It is a dexterous task to construct a helicopter using such model helicopter kits. It takes hours and hours to construct a helicopter and a minor error in design can ultimately result in crashing your newly made flying gizmo. These are further classified into two types namely, a) Laser cut kits- They have a precised construction and are expensive. b) Die cut kits- They are less expensive than laser cut kits.
It is always fun to fabricate a helicopter using these plastic model helicopter kits. However, the choice of the kit is also very important. It depends on the age of an individual largely. A young kid may not enjoy spending hours with a balsa kit. On the contrary, an adult hobbyist may not prefer spending no time with a ready to fly kit. It is always better to buy the model helicopter kits than purchasing model helicopters.
